Via Alpina is a set of long-distance trails going through 8 alpine countries. This fall I did several segments of the purple trail going through the bavarian alps. More information about Via Alpina can be found at http://www.via-alpina.org/ .
Originally, segment A53 goes from the Rotwandhaus to Sutten ski site, however since the weather forecast was not great I decided to go to a village instead. So, after reaching the Spitzgensee I turned north in the direction of Tigernsee lake. This lake is surrounded by four villages, the trail described here ends at the southern one called Rottach Egern.
