Fantastic walk. Eastern side mostly hugs the lake. Western side ambles up the hillside with some fabulous views of the lake.
Paths are good & mostly well signed. I did go off piste a couple of times. A quiet boggy section on the Eastern side was difficult to navigate but I got back to the route. Aura Falls confused me but was well worth the detour I took.
However, don't think this is a gentle amble round the lake. I clocked it at 22 1/2 miles & ascended nearly 2,400 feet. That's like going up Helvellyn!
It's a fantastic walk in its own right but great if all the Wainwright's are covered in cloud. It's also really quiet, a real bonus in the Lakes!
Dog walkers - there's a lot of cows & sheep on route.
P.S. I know Ullswater isn't a lake!
