For some time, I had been thinking about hiking from the Tar River in the Ruh Afza neighborhood of Damavand to the Tiz Ab Spring (Nur Lasam and Changiz Chal peaks) on the Do Barar ridge, and Alhamdulillah, on June 15, 1404, coinciding with the Day of Arafah, together with my colleague Agha Mehdi, we succeeded in implementing the plan. Perhaps one of the important factors in implementing this plan was the place of residence we had in Damavand city, and on Thursday and Saturday at 4:30 am, we started hiking from the house of the teacher in the Ruh Afza neighborhood. After a short walk, we reached the low-flowing Tar River, which I think will dry up by mid-summer. (When I was here a few weeks ago, there was no way to cross the river except by using the bridge.) After a little navigation, on our left (to the north), there is a valley where our first goal, the Ruhafza waterfall, is located. We continued our path through the thickets of trees and shrubs. We crossed the watercourse in several places (it was at the beginning of this path that we were devastated by the sight of a turtle whose head had been torn off by wild animals). It was about 3.5 kilometers before we reached the waterfall. The first (lower) part of the waterfall is very distinctive, but to see the main part (the upper part of the waterfall), we had to climb a little (a tree trunk was placed there as a railing, which you had to climb to see the upper part of the waterfall), and it was really worth it. It must be said that if the water volume is high, it is difficult to reach the waterfall, but at this time there was no problem. After seeing the waterfall, we continued on our path. There were ponds in several places, one of which was full of small fish, which was interesting to see at this point. But it was near kilometer 5 that we sat down for breakfast at a spot next to a spring and under tall trees. Along the way, we saw barberry bushes that were still bare. From this point on the way, we came to dams that had created small artificial waterfalls. The trees in the valley were not in good condition. Apparently, factors such as floods and drought had caused many of the trees to break and dry. We came across rocks in a few places along the way. But it was not so dangerous that it was necessary to work. Continuing on the way, we left the valley and reached a road that goes from the city of Damavand to the Tiz Ab spring. Along this path, the river was low in water, indicating the summer drought. Finally, after a total of 8.5 kilometers, we reached the Tiz Ab spring, a spring whose water flows from under the mountain into the main river and is famous for its sulfuric taste and is inedible. After that, we returned to Damavand along the dirt road and reached the car park after walking for about 3 kilometers. It can be said that it was an attractive route and, despite its difficulties, it is worth seeing once.
