Sanahin is an amazing 10th century monastery which is located in fairy and marvelous province of Armenia- in Lori.
And whenever you want to explore Lori province with all its glory, enter its colorful and not touristy villages, such as - Akner village ( Ակներ գյուղ)․
What you SHOULD KNOW about this trail?
--- The route starts from Sanahin monastery located in Sanahin village( Սանահին գյուղ ) and heads to Akner village.
--- During hiking you regularly will go down and up, but mostly you hike down.
--- Near the field in Akner village you'll have a sight of Kayan fortress ( Կայան բերդ ).
--- This route is blazed, but the marks are vanished in a lot of spots, so will be better to have GPS on you.
--- Season for this trail starts from April till November (till snow falling).
Lori is amazing both in spring and in summer and in autumn (especially mid-late October) and in winter (if you like snow hikes).
