Rte 6 Circular

The hike takes place in the northern section of Harriman State Park. The hike starts off at the Turkey Hill Parking which is on Rte 6 ( 41.31663, -74.05127 ).
From the parking, take the Long Path trail south into Harriman. For about .65 miles ( 1.04585 km ) the trail will bear right. The hike continues until the Long Path intersects the Menomine trail - which is blaze with yellow. Just before the intersection, there will be a shelter with a great view.
Make a left on the Menomine trail and continue to take the trail until it ends at Letterrock Mt where it intersects with the R-D. Along the way, trail goes by two lakes and picnic area. There are great views of Silvermine lake and Lake Nawahunta and on the Mineomine trail.
The next part of the hike is to take a left on the R-D and continue over Black Mountain where the R-D intersects with the 1779 trail. There are great views on the way up Black Mountain and also on top where the views of the Hudson can be seen.
Hike continues by taking a left on the 1779 trail, and staying on the 1779 until it intersects with PG trail. ( One word of caution, this trail crosses two busy road ways -- Rte 6 and 7 lakes Dr. -- so be careful ). About a half a mile from Rt 6, the woods road that 1779 takes will turn left and 1779 will turn right. Take the woods road right to get to PG trail. Another 2/10 of a mile, the PG trail will be on your right.
Make a left on PG trail that will skirt Turkey Hill Lake and take the trail till where it intersects with the Long Path. There are great views of the lake.
Final leg of the hike is make a left on the Long Path back to the Turkey Hill parking.
Note: At the intersection of the Long Path and PG trail, there is a great view of the Harriman and Bear Mt area when taking a right on Long Path over Turkey HIll.
