One of the best hikes on Table Mountain but note, if you're afraid of heights it may not be for you. There are a few spots where it's more of a scramble than a walk and some exposure when crossing the cliff face but it's worth the effort. Guide books suggest a rope may be used but I've never known anyone take one.
The path up Yellowstone Gully (above the overhang/cave) is steep and can be vague. We crossed a little high above the cave, there is probably a better path slightly lower, but the main thing is that you need to be above the cave to cross.
The cliff face is relatively simple but looks scary. When you arrive at the face the path ends by a drop. This is where people walk slightly too far, not realising you need to go up. The way to continue is just before the end of the path in a corner. If you try climbing with a big drop below you, you're in the wrong place!!! Climb in the corner, with path below you. Go about two metres up then traverse a few metres to the right onto the path into the cave behind the face. Before the cave becomes dark and impassable there is a way out through a narrow crack. This walk is not for very round people. The crack takes you onto a good ledge. Follow this for a few metres before going back behind the rock face. Again exit through a crack, traverse a wide ledge area, climb down in a corner by a tree and then simply follow the path until you reach the India Venster trail. It's well marked. You can take this down as we did or go left and up to arrive at the cable station after about an hour.
