Hey there. Congratulations on your achievement!. We are planning to give it a try within a week, so I would like to ask you (knowing that conditions of the route and weather can be unpredictable) if you have any suggestions or advice based on what you have found during your climb. Great thanks

Hi. I recommend acclimatizing for two nights, preferably in Monte Rosa or in a tent near the shelter. We started our ascent of Dufor at 2:00-3:00 AM. The trail is well marked with poles at the beginning. The glacier is a bit more challenging. The first part has many crevasses. The second part on the glacier is easier. But you have to be careful because there are still crevasses. After reaching the ridge, the trail is initially steep, covered in snow and ice. It's slippery, and you need to be careful. Further on, there's rock, with precipices on both sides. We belayed ourselves with ropes. There are a few places where it's much more difficult, so we set up belay stations.

You should definitely have an ice axe and crampons. And you should have them all the way to the summit. I left my ice axe where the rock was, and that was a big mistake. Fortunately, my friend had his with him. Without them, the return trip would have been extremely dangerous. There's an icy section near the summit where an ice axe is essential.

Great thanks for your reply. Yes, we definitely plan to take them with us the entire journey. We are used to winter mountaineering and climbing. Did you climb down from the summit going the same route? We know that it can also be climbing down on the other side through some rappels. Did you see it? Thanks

We’ll climb Punta Castore prior to move to Swiss side and move up to Monterosahutte. Thanks for the advises. I have climbed a few times some high altitude peaks so I know that acclimatizing is quite important as it can ruin your entire trip if it is not done properly

We returned the same route. One team took a different route. There are a few descents and a return via a different route across the glacier. Good luck.
