My wife and I decided to hike up W4 trail of Jebel Shams to celebrate my 53rd birthday.
My friends Sumeet and Rejo joined us too.
This is my 5th time on W4 trail, but it was the first time for my wife.
She did well on the hike.
Please note that the public summit of Shams is at 2996 Mtrs, and we managed to reach 2875 meters elevation and then decided to take it at leisure and enjoy the birthday.
The trail is well marked and visible.

Great Hike
This is a great hike..Did it with Patrick, Magie and Sumeet to celebrate Patrick's 53 birthday...It does get a bit longish so suggest starting as early as possibly to have enough time to finish it at an enjoyable pace...

Great Hike
Hi, can I follow this trail in summer, May or June? Will it be very hot on the mountain?
Yes...i am in Oman right now and its already quite hot...this is a daylong trip so you will end up exposed for the better part. You will also need to have more water drops. Suggest considering your ability to hike in 40C plus before taking a decision.
Hi 大海坨徒步,
As you are starting the hike at 1800 mtrs elevation, you can expect a better weather as compared to sea level.
If you really give an early early start (like 5am or before), you will be able to climb as high as possible before the sun affects you and also lower temperatures at higher elevations will help you.
Please take lots of hydration (at least 5 liters water), electrolytes, food, snacks and nutrients.
You will also need good shade from the sun.
