Descrizione dell'itinerario

Don't know why Wikiloc make straight false path sometimes, real length of the trail is 6 miles. I did try to make this route nicest and shortest as possible. I rate this route to very difficult level, reason is dangerous narrow path at some point and you may not even make it if erosion ruin it fully. Surface is mud! not stone at critical parts, don't even think about it if you see any chance to get rain. Exposed all over , summer is way to hat to make it.
Most critical part is near Pissouri bay footpath only feet wide and go through 20m deep gorge edges, luckily not too long approx 20-30 feets and you can use side of the path as aid with your hands...monkey walking LOL Another less critical section is the deep slopes from highland to down at Cape Aspro.
Luckily critical parts at sea side are marked with blue arrows, so not difficult to follow the track, plus well visible at most places. Return track from Pissouri beach is an old road earthen road okay for walking , no marks I may found two red arrows.

In the village I also made several shortcuts if you are won't walk thru the land without path just follow the earthen road or make bigger circle in the village.

I could not add way points and photos at end of the trail, due way points are over on 50 way points I did reach them maximum allowed way points.
I did mark a few places as possible shelters if you get bad weather condition , thunderstorm or similar.

I went on blue and red route according to this website

https://pissouri.org.cy/pissouri-nature-trails/

Pissouri is a village located in Limassol’s district, Cyprus (thirty kilometres westwards of Limassol’s centre), between Limassol and Paphos. Pissouri’s administrative area is the third biggest in Limassol District. The main settlement of Pissouri is situated about three kilometres away from the bay named Cape Aspro, and is built on the side of a green hill. The settlement, strangely, is placed in the middle of Pissouri’s territory.

Now they are two distinct communities, Pissouri Village Area and Pissouri Bay Area. The total permanent population is said to reach around 1100 people, about half of whom are Cypriots, the rest foreigners, mainly British, residents and visitors.

There are several shops, and many tavernas, restaurants and bars in the village. There is also a Bank of Cyprus branche in the village's central square.

According to some official sources,[citation needed] the name Pissouri derives from the ancient city ‘Voousoura’, as reported by Stravonas, a 1st-century BCE - 1st-century CE philosopher, mathematician and geographer.[2] Some other sources[which?] connect the name of the village with pitched-dark nights.[3]

A legend reports that the 300 Alamanoi (German) saints who came to Cyprus[when?] from Palestine in order to practice in various parts of the island, arrived on the Pissouri’s coast during such a pitch-dark night.[citation needed] Another legend reports that ‘the Saint Fathers’ pursued during the post-Christian era, were met in Pissouri’s region during a really black-night. However, it seems that the name of the village does not eventually stem from those legendaries but from the fact that in the region there was an extensive extraction of skin-sap from pine trees (called ‘pissa’ in Greek). The skin-sap production begun during the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire), continued during the Middle-Ages (5th – 15th century) and the Frankish era in Cyprus.

Beautiful trail, even on a rainy and windy day. There were some slippery stages but its manageable. After a nice warm up (Aphrodite's Rock) its the grand finale.
    Hail to CyprusMustSee!!!

I wanted to ask you guys if you usually hike alone. I have done some hiking in the USA, Canada, Greece and UK but always either with others or on a path which isn’t deserted. Not sure if hiking along in Troodos mountains on the less travelled paths is ok so curious as to what you think.

Most welcome! Prepare your self well, spare phone , knowing local police number is handy. Usually you can find local police number on information kiosk where is path start. Weather is changing easily you can get rain mostly at early afternoon. Most route is not marked well, study satellite pictures, draw your own route before go.

Got it, will follow all your suggestions. I read about a blunt nosed viper. Should I be worried about that or is it very rare to see?

Nice trail, not dangerous during sunny day. Only 2 very short parts where you should be aware and touch the stones for safety.

Thank you Lagutin for your review! Hikerw vipers are very rare , but you should always keep them in your mind if you leave the footpaths. I met only 4 times with them under a year.

Be careful with dog, I saw a few times vipers around Pissouri and I had talk to a guy who lost his dog due viper bite. If you can keep dog on track that is safe, but if he hunt in bush that can be dangerous to him.
