Easy access by taxi from Leh to the Phyang Monastery, which is worth a short visit, walk up through the villages of Phyang and Choma, cross the river (no bridge), and continue through the path that turns into a dirty road until the Phyang pass (Phyang La). We did a short climb to the ridge on the right side to get a better view before starting the way back towards Leh. From here it is possible to either take the dirty road or the trail (which we only saw and took later when the dirty road ends).
