Kinder Scout
Kinder Scout, situated in the Dark Peak region, is the highest point in the Peak District. Rising to an elevation of 636 meters (2,087 feet), it is referred to as the "Peak of Peaks." From atop it, you’re rewarded with breathtaking views that stretch far and wide. Kinder Scout holds historical significance as well. In 1932, the Mass Trespass took place on this moorland plateau. This mass protest involved over 400 people defying the law that prohibited walking across the land. This event fuelled the right to roam movement which led to the establishment of national parks throughout the United Kingdom, with the Peak District being the first.
Kinder Downfall
At 30m, this is the tallest waterfall in the Peak District. In summer, it can reduce to little more than a trickle, but it is a stunning sight to behold after rainfall. In winter, it has been known to freeze over and heavy winds can turn it upside down, with the water being blown upwards.
Kinder Low
Kinder Low is located on the southwest corner and marked by a trig point. Though this is often mistaken for the highest point of Kinder Scout, the true summit of Kinder Scout lies further towards the centre of the plateau and is not marked by a trig point.
Edale Rocks
These outcrops are great for bouldering.
Swine's Back
Jacob's Ladder
Jacob’s Ladder is one of the main routes up Kinder Scout and consists of a series of stone steps across land owned by the National Trust.
