From Kato Gatzea to Agios Giorgios Nileas following footpath and kalderimi. It is the first stage of the South Pelion Trail that ends in Platania. The route has some waymarker signs and red paint marks. We recommend downloading this route via Wikiloc premium so you can follow this route using your smartphone.

We start this walk from the beach car parking area at Kato Gatzea

Reaching the main road turn right for a short distance before crossing the road to take the path between the houses.

Take care when the small train of Pelion is operating.

The sign says no walking along the track. It is the route of the path for a short distance. There is plenty of space away from the track when the small train of Pelion passes by (normally at weekends or public holidays)

Sometimes paths are blocked!
These paths are kept open by a few volunteers, please help when you can to keep the paths clear. Here olive tree cuttings are almost blocking the path.

Again the path joins the asphalt road uphill. On the return route, it is very difficult to see the path obscured by vegetation. A Friends of Kalderimi sign helps identify the path.
