Considering the summer heat, I thought a hike starting above 1250 meters elevation and ascending to 1932 meters (the true summit) of Jebel Jais Mountain would be ideal to take advantage of the cooler weather.
We arrived at the Jebel Jais viewing deck parking area at 10 PM. The security guard initially denied us permission to hike, but after our request and assurance of taking full responsibility, he allowed us to proceed without recording our details.
The trail begins at the Viewing Deck Park and ascends steeply to the Viewing Deck Park Summit (1415 m), marked by the UAE Flag and featuring stone steps and ample rest stops.
Past the summit, the 1484 Puro restaurant comes into view. Shortly after, the Wadi Ghalilah dam trail appears on the left, but our path continues straight, ascending to the Ghaf summit at 1640 m.
Following this summit, a flat area with a military checkpoint and clean washrooms is reached. Another ascent leads to a road with another washroom at the corner. A right turn after the washroom reveals a palace on the left after a short distance.
Continuing along the trail, we encounter 4 UAE-Oman border markers, with the highest point of 1932 m located in Oman.
