Descrizione dell'itinerario
I had originally planned to go all the way to the Jebel Jais summit but cut my hike short, taking in beautiful views from an unnamed peak (as far as I know) close to an open gate demarcating the Omani/UAE border.
The hike is strenuous but not technically difficult.
Please note that I have NOT stripped a few wrong turns in the GPS track. They are obvious as you look at the map but you’ll want to avoid those.
If you have two cars, you could park one at the parking area where mini-buses take clients up the last section of the mountain road (closed to public car traffic) to the zip-lining platform. That way you could enjoy walking down a quiet but paved mountain road, taking in the views—and not having to negotiate the steep couloir and (when I went) increasingly oppressive heat back down to the beginning of the hike.

Waypoint

Be sure to turn left at this sign!
I went the wrong way by turning right here. There is a cairn to the right, but this leads the wrong way. You must turn left where there is also a cairn.

Trail
there is some scrambling to get to this section. But nothing too technical. The drop-off is quite impressive.
