Die Drei Zinnen (Els Tres Cims de Lavaredo)

(Originally written in Catalan; English version below)

Die drei Zinnen (The Three Peaks of Lavaredo)

Beautiful hike, relatively unknown and less frequented, to approach the three summits of Lavaredo, in the Natural Park of the Three Peaks in the Dolomites. We leave the Baur Tre Cime hotel, on the SS51 road, and we take the itinerary 102, very well marked. We dwell into the valley, following the river, in a pleasant ascending hike. After overcoming a steep section, we reach an extraordinary meadow where it is not uncommon to find marmots enjoying the sun. We continue climbing gently until we reach a crossroads where we can choose between going to the Locatelli refuge or following the path to the Lavaredo pass, to have breathtaking views on the valley of the same name at the foot of the three summits.

From the neck, we proceed to the Locatelli refuge using a more elevated path, much less busy and at times dangerous owing to the the steep slopes. Just before reaching the refugee, we find a cave excavated on the rock, probably a defensive shelter used in the two world wars, which had these wonderful mountains as a stage. From the refuge, there are two lakes and unsurpassed views.

We make the descent to the car along the same itinerary (I run out of battery shortly before reaching the starting point).
