Descrizione dell'itinerario
This is a circular tour starting and finishing near Mytholmroyd rail station. Mytholmroyd can also be reached by the 590 or 592 bus from Halifax bus station.
It starts on the flat as it follows the railway line and then crosses over the Rochdale canal before climbing steeply up a valley side to reach open moorland where Churn Mill Joan, a boundary stone can easily be found. (I also tried to find Miller's Grave and Greenwood 'B' stone which are nearby, though with no success. On the uphill climb, I saw my first bluebells of 2019.
Just after crossing the railway line, look out for the murder post on the right.
The route off the moor back to Mytholmroyd is interesting as it descends the steep valley side, first through bracken and then through trees. It was muddy in one or two places where little streams had made their way on to the footpaths.
Now is a good time to do the tour when the bluebells and wild garlic are in bloom. Later in the year would be an alternative when the heather on the moor is blooming.
