C38 2.3km
The classic Riyam to Muttrah walk. Best to start from Riyam and ending either at the Muttrah Souk or in Old Muscat using C39b from the crossing of the two trails.
Should you continue along C38 it is recommended to visit the leftovers of a small settlement with a broken falaj system, water storage pool, now empty and some shady trees to have lunch underneath.
Some of the walk is in the shade in the later afternoon.
Just before you arrive in Muttrah after scrambling through the narrow wadi, you will enter a graveyard. Kindly turn left to avoid going over the graves.

Hi mate. You mention the C39b route. I can't find that referenced anywhere on the Oman ministry of Tourism web site. I've also encountered some newly marked trails up on Shams coming up from Wadi Satan. Is there a web site where these news trails are being shown?

The beginner hike for anyone and everyone in Oman. Nice views of the harbour and an escape from the traffic on the corniche in no time at all.
Hi, the C39a and C39b is a new route coming from the cornish opposite the Matrah fort, climbing over the dam (Safety features not yet installed, may be ready in 2 weeks time, Inshallah), then carries on through the wadi until reaching the crosspoint with C38. From there it is going towards Old Muscat. Totally approx 2km.
I'm happy with the route. I was asking if any of the these newly marked routes were on the net anywhere?
Besides C39 there are about 11 newly marked routes in the Western Hajar and 2 routes in the Eastern Hajar.
Good to hear that more are being marked. But if no one knows where they are that’s not much use is it. So are they listed/detailed anywhere?
