Descrizione dell'itinerario
This is a circular tour, starting at the old Bramhope Well and finishing at the Puritan Chapel in Bramhope; Bramhope can be reached from Leeds on the X84. On street parking is available in Bramhope, where there is the Fox and Hounds pub.
having completed it, I think the tour is best finished where Cabin Road meets the Leeds Road, near the top of Old Pool Bank. There is very little visual interest or appeal in the last part of the tour from Cabin Road across fields in Old Bramhope back to the Puritan Chapel.
There is lots of visual interest en-route: the old well, right at the start of the tour, Arthington Viaduct, the view across to Arncliffe Crag and the Puritan Chapel (1649) at the completion of the tour. Part of the tour runs right next to a railway line so you might be lucky enough to get a shot of a Northern Train.
There are some stretches which are Public Bridleways and so are muddy; other stretches seem little used and consequently overgrown, so wearing shorts is not a good idea. There are quite a few stiles to climb over.
The footpath in Creskeld Wood I found particularly pretty: perhaps the tour is best done in May when the rhododendrons are flowering. Avenue des Hirondelles is fascinating with its palatial mansions.
I had problems with navigation near Staircase Farm and again at Bank Top.
There is varied topography: open fields, light woods and urban alleyways.
