Starting at the water reserve area in Hólsdalur Siglufjörður, we follow the river Blekkilsá up to a sort of basin in the mountain slope, called Botnar. Today there was snow there although we're well into August. We continue to the mountain pass called Botnaleiðarskarð. From there we have a great view over Siglufjörður to the north and to Fljót to the southwest. Today we had a look all the way to the west-fjords. There was also a lot of snow on the way down, so we were able to slide half of the way down. This route is an absolute gem. It is marked, but there is no painting on the bars any more and some of them are broken or with too long distance in between, so they cannot be seen. Thus it is a must to have a gps-track.
