Day 1 of 5 walking east to west along the South Downs Way. A slightly shorter mileage to start, approximately 19 miles from our B&B in Eastbourne to Rodmell. A coolish day, blustery on the hilltops, but with sunshine. The first amazing views south and north reveal themselves as I climb up onto the Downs. Quite a few ups and downs, but legs feeling OK. Ending the day in Rodmell with pub meal and stroll around the village, with the surprise discovery of the Woolfs' house and associated tragic history.
