Start at the Western Monastery, walk up the road to the left of the monastery then scramble up the stream at the end of the road. There is one big pool on the first section, passed by using the rope in the bushes to the left of the waterfall. At the dam, go up to the footpath that crosses the stream, climb the steps in the middle of the dam then go left along the top and scramble along the bank to rejoin the stream. Then there is 1-2 hrs of stream scrambling, with many swimming places, until the first footpath which is easy to find as there is a footbridge over the stream. The descent we took is not the easiest. A path which is overgrown to start and steep lower down, but there is a superb rocky viewpoint halfway down. Finish at the road and take a minibus or taxi back to the MTR station.
