In Yamethinn I could not find spokes that size so I spent the first hours worried about a chain reaction of broken spokes on the rear wheel. Therefore, I stopped at a shade to move one spoke from the front wheel to the rear (note the front carries less weight while the rear supports the panniers bags weight). I was completely alone but in a few minutes I was in the middle of a ten people crowd discussing in burmese about mechanics. This made me lose some time and I had to speed up.
The first part of the track runs on a very secondary lonely road very enjoyable. Then it meets a road with more traffic that follows a river among mountain and is also very nice to follow.
At a given point you start to climb at a pretty steady pace from 200m to nearly 1400m in Kalaw. The road is windy with truck traffic but at a given point turns peaceful again.
Kalaw has plenty of good accommodation and a lot of tourist fancying they are in the Himalayas. Still, it is a very comfortable end of stage with some places to take interesting pictures and good places to have dinner.
