在慈溪上林湖南首，有一座奇山，海拔较高，山上绿树成荫，涧中飞瀑轰鸣，那便是栲栳山（又称仙居山）。有诗为证：“清泉绕溪流，嶙峋岩石怪；传说多神妖，明灭照寒沙”。不过，栲栳山名称的由来却无从知晓，然而栲栳山的一山一水，一石一木，全是大自然的神工造化，绝无半点人工凿痕，就如同它的名字一样，原始而朴素。山分东西两峰，长年白雾茫茫。
